Progress

Well, I finally feel like things are falling into place for our growing family. I bought a crib yesterday - whew! What a chore that was. I had a crib picked out (for months now) and when we went to order it, the nice people decided that they weren't going to take orders or backorders anymore. So, after about 2 weeks of my mom & I have anxiety attacks, we finally went looking for other options. I'm happy to say that I got a beautiful crib that might even fit the room better than my original idea. This is it ... but it is in the other darker chocolate color (as shown below).

What else has happened in the past few months - whew! We registered at Babies R Us last weekend. I'm sure there is A LOT of stuff that we didn't put on the list, but I was just too tired to keep looking. I can add stuff online, which is such a relief. So, I've been researching some stuff and slowly adding to my registry. It's so hard to know what she will like and not. And, since I've obviously never done this before it's hard to know what is really crucial to have - you know?

Okay, so on to the fun stuff --- the room is painted now. It's a cute springy green color. And, the dresser is painted and put in the room. I have the changing table & it's in there. Got some cute baskets to go on the shelves. I am having some cute picture frames made to go above the changing table & crib. I have the drapery fabric (brown, green & turqouise blue paisley) - and my mom's assignment is to finish those off. (She's MUCH, MUCH better at the sewing thing than I am!) And, I've ordered a glider/recliner for the room. It should be done soon (I hope!). So, it's all coming together. Only 832 more things to cross off the list! :)

Thanks to all the boys for their help with the room. Dad, Quinn & Ben for help with all the painting. And, Graham for help with the heavy lifting! We couldn't have done it without you!

Getting fatter by the day!

Corey and I had another doctor's appointment on Friday. To date I have gained only about 4 pounds (net). But, I think I have gained 2 of them in the past week. Seems like my belly has kind of popped out the past couple of days. My doctor said that I got a gold star for the day, because I was measuring perfectly on my size & weight. Yippee!
But, then I think she may have taken it back. : (
She says I have to start exercising (believe it or not - I had a hard time even spelling that word!) ... she asked what I liked to do - walk? swim? I don't think she liked my response of the couch. So, you will probably see us out walking the dog more and more now.
Being pregnant is so weird. It's constantly on my mind, but then sometimes it surprises me all over again that I am not only pregnant, but that I am going to be having a baby! I know - I'm weird. Life is getting a little more interesting lately though. I have noticed that I can no longer bend to pick stuff up (I have to squat a little now too, because my gut gets in the way). Corey will soon have to help push me out of bed cause I sink in pretty good now. It's a better idea for me to drive/ride in the Escape, because it is taller and easier for me to get in and out of. My hands are starting to get a little tingly at night (hopefully, that's not the beginnings of caprpal tunnel). My joints pop everytime I stand up. And, I am hungry about every hour of the day! But, in the end, it'll be worth it. As long as she doesn't come out looking like a troll! :)

Silly Girl!

So, the other day Corey was talking to my belly. I told him he should run the names by her & see if there were any she was fond of. On one particular name she started moving around a lot. Then the other night, Corey put his head down on my belly and I'm pretty sure she tried to kick him. Lastly, Corey was joking around and asking the baby if she was Paxton's little sister ... and this got the biggest reaction. She spun around a couple of times.
I don't know if she is fond of or hates the name ... I don't know if she really tried to kick Corey or if it was a love tap ... and I don't know if she was happy to be called the dog's little sis ... but I get the feeling like she is going to be a silly little girl!

Complaints

Today has been kind of a rough day. I woke up with really achy legs & back. And, I didn't sleep super stellar - maybe it's that 120 lb. dog on the bed?! I'm sure things are only going to get "better" from here.
I'm iron-deficient - which is pretty normal. My doctor "prescribed" me iron supplements, but they don't agree with me. I've been trying really hard to eat more iron-rich foods though. In fact I have just finished my third roast beef sandwich in the last 3 days. I'm sure I'll get bored of that quickly, but for now I am hoping it will help prevent the woozy spells.
Every once in a while in the mornings it takes about everything I have to get through my normal routine of getting ready. I sat down in the shower this morning (which is getting to be a normal occurrence), then had to sit a few times while getting dressed & putting my make-up on. And, believe me ... it doesn't take me all that long to get ready in the mornings, only about 30 minutes total. (No matter what you say, Graham ... I am not Fancy Nancy!) So, I finally made it downstairs & had to sit down while waiting for my bread to get toasted. It's so frustrating to not be up to normal speed. I think if I can just stand here for 30 more seconds then I can sit down to eat ... but, no! My body has other plans, which means either sitting & resting or fainting NOW.
Okay, okay ... enough complaining! I know my symptoms could definitely be much worse & in general things have been pretty manageable. So, I'm just hoping little girl Meurer is healthy.

Halfway to baby!

Today is the halfway point of my pregnancy. I can't believe we are already halfway there ... seems like we just found out we were having a baby. I'd hoped to have a lot more accomplished at this point in my pregnancy, but ... I still have plenty of time, right?
List of to dos:

Get crib, changing table, glider, stroller, bedding, car seat, ... okay everything dealing with a baby. I do have some adorable clothes - thanks Mom! I (Corey) also need to paint the room, paint the dresser, make drapes ..... the list is never-ending isn't it?!

Anyway, life is good. My belly is getting bigger by the day. I still haven't gained much weight, but I think my belly has increased by about 2" thusfar.

Well, on a different note - sorry it has taken me so long to get back into the blogging mode. I will try to be a lot better about it. Unfortunately my blog is a little boring cause I can't include pictures without a huge hassle. I've missed telling you all about our trip to Maui (January) ... and all the pregnancy milestones from the beginning. Of course, we were a little worried to tell everyone right at the beginning and so we tried to wait until we were about 3 months along, so I couldn't really spill the beans back then. But, I will really try to be better from now on. Okay, Cara?! :)

Halloween

Happy Halloween!
Just thinking about some of my favorite Halloween memories ... top 3 ...
1) Quinn sleeping through Halloween ... our friend Mindy (dressed as a gorilla) went to wake him up - and we all feared for her life. (Quinn is not a delicate flower when being roused from sleep - there are often feet & fists being thrown).
2) Corey dressed as Princess Leia. When Corey and I were still dating we went to a party up in Park City. He got a lot of funny looks from guys ... I don't think they could figure out if he was a chick or not.
3) When I had my long hair I dressed up as Pippy Longstockings. Hair and all! It was a major production trying to get my hair to stand out (secret weapon --- metal hanger). I would suggest not volunteering to drive with said hair ... gives a whole new meaning to "blind spots".
