For those of you who haven't seen me pregnant ... here you go!

This was actually when my mom and I went down to AZ in April. Mom and I had such a good time eating & shopping & eating & shopping. :)

Cute high chair!

I am so excited, because I got my high chair. You know I'm going to be a mom ... who gets excited about a high chair?! It's cute, huh?
I keep hoping that my phone will ring & they will tell me to come pick up my crib. (It was supposed to be here early this week.) It'll be so nice to see the room finally coming together. Mom has just about finished the drapes & they look AWESOME! It's going to be such a beautiful nursery. Not very baby-ish, but just beautiful. I just love it! I still have some decorative painting to do in the room. But, everything is starting to come together. I'm a little more optimistic today that things will be done by the time the wee babe gets here.

Take off your shirt ...

Okay, so I was over at my friend's house the other day. I hadn't been over much during the daylight hours, so her sweet 4 year old boy hadn't seen much of my expanding belly recently. We were asking him if I looked a little chubby, which he said yes to. And, then his mom asked him what I had in my belly. He giggled & answered that it was a "big belly". Well, we finally explained that it was a baby, but you could tell he just wasn't quite getting it. So, his mom went and got a book that showed some illustrations of a mom with the baby in the belly. This cute little boy kept looking at me, then the book, then back at me ... you could see the little wheels spinning. Then he said, "take off your shirt & pull down your pants so I can see the baby".
Oh, the innocence of children. It's probably one of the highlights to my pregnancy. What a cutie!

6 weeks to go!

Well, only 6 more weeks to go ... and I am finally feeling completely overwhelmed. I have a large list of "to do's" and an equally large belly that restricts me from doing half of it!
Work is just an added obstacle for me, more emotionally/psychologically than anything. I almost feel picked on here. I guess I should take that as a sign as to what direction I should take after having the little girl! But, you know me --- stubborn, as usual.
This week should be great though ... we start out lamaze classes, the crib should be here in the next couple of days & I got my beautiful frames that I need to paint & hang up in the nursery. It's all starting to come together, but it's just still so overwhelming. Cross off 3 things on my list & woops, you forgot these 18 other things. Oh well!
Today is another doctors appointment - hopefully everything is still going well. I'll let ya know!

Knitting Mama

Lately I have been such the knitting fool! I have finished a cute little eyelet vest, almost done with the matching pants, a fuschia shrug/sweater, half of a 3T dress (didn't try to make it THAT big) & half of another cute little wrap sweater. Oh, and I was able to make a cute little bolero shrug for a friend who is having a baby just a couple weeks after I am. Thank goodness I haven't gotten carpal tunnel!
I NEED to get my pictures up on the blog, but it's such a struggle for me to do. I have to save the pictures to our home computer, then make a copy of them onto a disc, then take them to another computer (with internet capabilities) to upload them. It's not that bad ... but it's just such an annoyance to me.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day all you mothers!
I hope you had a wonderful day. I, my husband, informs me that I am not yet a mother ... so, he is kind of in the doghouse with me right now! Hello, expectant MOTHER!
So, as some of you may know ... I have read the most inspirational book as of late. It is called "I am a Mother" and it is fantastic. I have read it twice now & I think this will be a constant read for me. In this new phase of my life I find such comfort & direction in the pages of this book. It's amazing how such a small & simple book has changed my outlook on women & motherhood. I always thought mothers were amazing women ... don't get me wrong! But, seeing things through someone else's eyes has helped me to see where I need to change my perspective a little. It's amazing how pregnancy just changes EVERYTHING! :)
So, my parents gave me some mother's day gifts ... the cutest, tiniest little socks, a flippy denim skirt & little pink ostrich skin cowboy boots. My daughter is going to be the most stylish little girl!

Only 2 more months to go ...

Had another doctor's appointment on Tuesday. And, Dr. Macy said that the baby was "crazy" ... when she put the sonogram wand to my belly I swear the chica tried to kick it out of her hand! She is a little crazy - probably just like her mom.
Things seem to be going fine ... I've only gained about 12 pounds so far and I am feeling good. Most of the weight is just in my belly. I do have a little bit of swelling in my feet & legs. Which everyone says that as it gets warmer, it will continue to get worse. Great!
Nothing really new on the room, or well, much of anything. But, I did have a great idea the other day. I was wondering ... if I were to strap in the car seat in the back, do you think I would get pulled over for driving in the HOV lane? :)

Moab

This past weekend we made a quick trip to Moab to visit our buddies Andrew & Autumn. We had a nice time.
The drive was a little miserable ... rainy & snowy on the way down. And, pregnant belly & swollen feet/legs on the way home. :)
On Saturday we took a quick (& snowy) trip down to Blanding (sounds like fun, huh?) and went to this Native American art fair thingy. It was pretty funny for me to look around & see spitting images of my dad & cousins everywhere. I don't think I have been in a room with so many people who look like me. I think they were probably curious as to why I was so excited at all of the beautiful jewelry & pottery.
On the way back to Moab we hit the Hole in the Rock ... it was the most random place I have ever been in my life. Some dude carved a 5,000 square foot cave into the rocks & he and his wife lived there. Another hobby of his was taxidermy ... so he had his beloved donkey & 2 horses stuffed in his house/cave. Then outside there was a "petting zoo" where they kept a couple of donkeys, ostriches & alpacas. Random!
Then on Sunday we took an easy drive out to Dead Horse Point (I think that's what it's called) in Canyonlands. Again, it was chilly & rainy - and I wasn't in much of a walking mood. But, the scenery was pretty & it would have been nice to have more time to hit a real trail. Hopefully next time! And, maybe next trip we can skip the inappropriate movies, guys! :)

Progress

Well, I finally feel like things are falling into place for our growing family. I bought a crib yesterday - whew! What a chore that was. I had a crib picked out (for months now) and when we went to order it, the nice people decided that they weren't going to take orders or backorders anymore. So, after about 2 weeks of my mom & I have anxiety attacks, we finally went looking for other options. I'm happy to say that I got a beautiful crib that might even fit the room better than my original idea. This is it ... but it is in the other darker chocolate color (as shown below).

What else has happened in the past few months - whew! We registered at Babies R Us last weekend. I'm sure there is A LOT of stuff that we didn't put on the list, but I was just too tired to keep looking. I can add stuff online, which is such a relief. So, I've been researching some stuff and slowly adding to my registry. It's so hard to know what she will like and not. And, since I've obviously never done this before it's hard to know what is really crucial to have - you know?

Okay, so on to the fun stuff --- the room is painted now. It's a cute springy green color. And, the dresser is painted and put in the room. I have the changing table & it's in there. Got some cute baskets to go on the shelves. I am having some cute picture frames made to go above the changing table & crib. I have the drapery fabric (brown, green & turqouise blue paisley) - and my mom's assignment is to finish those off. (She's MUCH, MUCH better at the sewing thing than I am!) And, I've ordered a glider/recliner for the room. It should be done soon (I hope!). So, it's all coming together. Only 832 more things to cross off the list! :)

Thanks to all the boys for their help with the room. Dad, Quinn & Ben for help with all the painting. And, Graham for help with the heavy lifting! We couldn't have done it without you!
